CHOP MACHINE
Built for sonic exploration and fun. Load up to eight samples, pick a rate and a motion shape, then add some chaos. Create chopped patterns, drum beats, glitchy, evolving pads and more.
Launch price: half off for the first 100 buyers.

VST3®, Audio Unit and Standalone for macOS and Windows, one product key.
Playback
Every slot holds up to 20 seconds of audio and gets its own level, pitch (three octaves either way), attack, decay and reverse. Then pick how each hit plays the sample: BEGIN for tight, punchy chops, RANDOM for glitchy surprises, or one of the Legato types to glide through it as a smooth, evolving texture.
Fill Machine
Fill all eight slots in one go. Point the Fill Machine at a folder and it rolls a random sample for each slot, narrowed by search words if you like. Roll again until the set clicks, then hit Fill.
Or start from one sample: spread its start points across the slots, or split the file into separate pieces, one per slot, each cut at a zero crossing. It works while the pattern plays, and with SYNC on the new sounds land together on the next bar.
Motion
Pick a rate anywhere from 1/4 to 1/32, triplets included, and a motion shape (ramp, triangle, sine, random and more) to set how the pattern travels through your slots. Amplitude decides how far it roams.
Then add some groove with articulation: SKIP drops steps, REPEAT turns them into rolls, and HOLD lets a sound ring out.
Chaos
Once playback and motion have the groove where you want it, chaos goes on top. A little of it adds musical pitch moves (octaves, fifths, fourths) plus accents and ghost notes. Push it further for envelope changes, reversed hits and wider intervals, and near the top it gets deliberately weird.
Every result is seeded, so when you find something you love, it comes back note for note. Turn the knob back down and everything is right where you left it.
Sequence
When the pattern is almost there, take over. Click a step to pin it, click another slot's lane to move it there, or drag across the scope to pin a whole run. Click the rail under a step to silence it. Your edits stay put even with chaos cranked, and Clear Edits hands the pattern back to the algorithm whenever you like.
Scenes
Eight scene pads each save the whole instrument. Arm SYNC and every switch waits for the top of the loop, so you can build a progression and perform it live without missing a beat.
MIDI notes 48 to 55 recall them too, so a clip in your DAW can play the progression. In the Standalone, the number keys 1 to 8 do the same.

Fill Machine
- Auto-chop can split a sample into separate files, one piece per slot, with each cut placed at a zero crossing.
- Slots can be filled with random samples from one folder, or from a separate folder for each slot, filtered by search words.
- Samples can be hot-swapped while the sequencer is running. With Sync on, they come in on the next bar line.
Scene Updates
- Scenes can be switched with MIDI notes from a DAW or an external controller.
- In the standalone app, the number keys switch scenes.
UI Updates
- An Arm button appears when Chop Machine is hosted in a DAW. It keeps an instance silent while the host plays.
- The two sample-slot sections and the engine section can each be collapsed.
- A dark mode has been added.
- The chaos seed can be typed in directly.
Settings Menu
- Tooltips can be turned on.
- A demo can be upgraded to a full license without waiting for the demo to run out.
- The MIDI notes for scenes can be set by typing a note number or by playing a key.
- The engine version can be set for each patch. Patches and projects made in 1.0 open on the 1.0 engine, so they sound the same as before.
Sequencer V2
- Chaos can be disconnected from pitch. It still varies accents, envelopes and reverses, but every slot stays at its own pitch.
- The V2 sequencer chooses slots better for linear motions, so Ramp and Ramp Down now reach both the first and the last enabled slot.
- Legato playback resets when the scene changes.
- Decay now ends in a gentle roll-off. Near its top setting, a hit fades out just as it ends.
- Attack and decay now scale with the length of each hit instead of using fixed times.
- Pinning is easier, and steps are silenced from a dedicated bar under the scope.
Loop Export
- A new menu offers drag-out and folder selection options.
- The Export button still works as a drag-out.
- Exported loops are now backed up.
Bug Fixes
- Steps no longer play twice at audio block boundaries in rare cases.
- Patch saves are now lossless.
- Tile readouts are now correct when a nonzero phase is selected.
- Sounds no longer resume partway through after an audio device restart, a sample rate change or a buffer size change.
- The waveform now follows Reverse when a scene is recalled.

FAQ
How does the demo work?
The free demo key unlocks the full instrument for 5 days. Enter an email address at checkout and the key arrives by email. No card needed.
Can I use it on more than one computer?
Yes, on every computer you personally own. Activate each one with the same key.
Do I need to be online?
No. Activation happens offline and there is no account.
Can I share patches?
Yes. A .chop patch embeds its audio, so it opens anywhere.
Is there an iPhone or iPad version?
Not yet. It is in development and will be a separate App Store purchase.
Windows warned me about the installer. Is that safe?
The installer is code-signed by Tendergreen Studio LLC. Windows SmartScreen also flags files that have not been downloaded much yet, so a new release can get a warning just for being new.
Choose to keep the download, then pick More info and Run anyway, after checking the publisher reads Tendergreen Studio LLC. If it does not, do not run it, and email hello@tendergreenstudio.com. The macOS installer is signed and notarized by Apple.
